Peter Wallyn FCA

After qualifying with one of the large International firms of Chartered Accountants in 1979 my career has taken several turns, the last being about twenty years ago when I merged my firm with Thornton Springer. Since then my fields of interest have diversified, in particular in the charity and not-for-profit sectors, housing associations and professional partnerships. Within the firm I am responsible for the ongoing training needs of all fee earners, including students. With my children now grown up I have more time to devote to my main interest of tennis with a wish also to spend more time on the golf course, clients permitting.

Debbie Ankrah LLB(Hons) ATT

Having spent several years working for the Inland Revenue and then smaller firms of Chartered Accountants, I joined the tax department of Thornton Springer in 2000. At the time I was studying part time for a law degree which I obtained in 2004 and post graduate diploma in law in 2006. With studying out of the way, I was appointed a partner in June 2006 concentrating mainly on small businesses, tax inquiries, property investment, trusts and tax planning.

In 2015 I went back to studying and through the ICAEW, became authorised to deal with non-contentious probate. This is dealt with through Thornton Springer Probate Services Ltd.

My main hobbies are tennis, skiing and sailing.

Soon after qualifying aged 21 I commenced practicing as Thornton Springer. My role within Thornton Springer can be broadly defined as a general practice partner. My clients vary in size and type covering a wide spectrum with specialisations in property development, investment businesses and estate agencies. I also have interests in wealth planning for high net worth individuals, Inheritance Tax, Family Trusts and other related issues. My main hobbies include watching Arsenal FC, where I have been a season ticket holder for over 30 years. I also have an interest in motor cars and travel, particularly in the South of France.

Sid Ison FCCA

I qualified in 1977 and have been a partner of the Thornton Springer network since 1980.

My numerous roles within Thornton Springer include responsibility for the computer network. Happily this indulges one of my main interests and provides me with a platform from which I advise clients on computing matters.

I have been working in tax for over 30 years, initially joining HM Revenue & Customs as a fresh faced 18 year old. I have subsequently held a number of roles leading to me joining Thornton Springer LLP as a tax manager in 2013. I qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1997 which is the highest qualification for tax professionals. I advise on all forms of direct taxation, including income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and corporation tax. My clients include landlords, high net worth individuals, trusts, partnerships and small limited companies. I provide tax consultancy services to the clients of the whole firm.

I have little spare time with two growing children, but I enjoy reading, going to the gym and cycling.
